Moon and Amy Shim, owners of The Diamond Springs Hotel, invite you and your family to dine with us in the very heart of the Gold County.
Located in El Dorado County about 3 minutes south of Placerville , on historic Highway 49, the town of Diamond Springs was built around beautiful clear water springs (the springs no longer exist except in history books). During the Gold Rush, this town was a rest stop on the Caron Emigrant Trail. The discovery of a 25 pound gold nugget by a Missouri pioneer convinced many Missouri immigrants camping in Diamond Springs, to settle and construct the town’s first clapboard buildings.
The Diamond Springs Hotel, built in 1916 by Antone Meyer, is the lone survivor of many hotels and boarding houses in Diamond Springs.
Today, the Diamond Springs Hotel provides a restaurant only. The inhabitants of the rooms are the happy ghosts.
